Innocent Victims of Gun Control: The welterweight champion

Robert_Guerro_4Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero has beaten many opponents on his way to becoming the WBC Welterweight Champion. He has also beaten back leukemia and is known far and wide for his squeaky-clean lifestyle.

In short, Guerrero is a champion in every meaning of the term. He is truly an American hero and role model.  But once again, we see the gun control trap set by Democrats snap shut on an innocent, law-abiding citizen.

Guerrero is now facing a felony charge that could put him away for 15 years.

Just like Beth Ferrizzi from yesterday’s edition of this series, the champ was arrested while trying his best to legally check an unloaded firearm at a New York airport. Unbeknownst to many residents of normal states, New York’s gun laws are so complex and strict as to effectively strip all Second Amendment rights from those who foolishly enter its boundaries.

En route to Vegas, Guerrero was attempting to complete an act that is both legal and commonplace in almost all other states … checking a properly encased and unloaded firearm with his luggage.

Guerrero, a known hunter, had been asked to bring one of his firearms by a film crew from Showtime that wanted to get shots of Guerrero shooting and Guerrero, like so many other innocent people, did not realize that New York has effectively shredded the Constitution within its borders.

To add insult to injury, Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown issued a press release mocking Guerrero by saying that “I hope he fights better than he thinks.

Once again, we see the Democrats achieving their true goal at the expense of a good man. Who is the real criminal in this story?

The ‘Innocent Victims of Gun Control‘ series of articles details the effects of gun control policies on law abiding citizens and exposes the lie that gun control is only aimed at criminals.

Maybe we can invite Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown to step into the ring with Guerrero in a winner take all contest. For that I would pay a handsome fee.

It would seem that there is no such thing as an innocent gun owner in NY, unless they are a member of the elite.

Well, Richard A. Brown, you c@&$&@cking, Oath-breaking, bottomfeeding piece of human excrement, you are one of many that will be in for a big surprise once We, the People, finally have had enough.

And just to make a point, I have traveled through New York, carrying a loaded gun. But you don’t have to worry about me doing it again. If I was in a plane that was crashing, I’d jump out over Pennsylvania rather than die in New York.

Why don’t you and yours just secede from the U. S., become your own nation, and be the prima fascia dictatorship that you so want to be?

His charges were reduced to disorderly conduct. 250 dollar fine and 50 hours community service. Its pretty baffling that the TSA would let you check a firearm as you’re FLYING TO A STATE WHERE IT IS ILLEGAL TO HAVE IT. You think they’d say “uh sir, you’re about to commit a felony”.

In a press release, Guerrero was quoted as saying, “I’m pleased that the District Attorney’s Office considered my case carefully and resolved it fairly. I never intended to violate New York law, but I know that ignorance of the law is not an excuse. Lesson learned. I’m happy this incident is behind me and looking forward to returning to the ring as well as serving my community as ordered by the court.”

We need to start a class action lawsuit for everone who has been wrongfully persecuted against NY and each and every individual responsible for failing to uphold the law. After all how many times have we the people been told “Ignorance of the law is no excuse”. We really need to hit them where it hurts, their pocketbook.
Federal law for trnsporting firearms trumps state law.
Concerning the interstate transportation of firearms, federal law provides at 18 USCS § 926A:

§ 926A. Interstate transportation of firearms

Notwithstanding any other provision of any law or any rule or regulation of a State or any political subdivision thereof, any person who is not otherwise prohibited by this chapter [18 USCS §§ 921 et seq.] from transporting, shipping, or receiving a firearm shall be entitled to transport a firearm for any lawful purpose from any place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm to any other place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm if, during such transportation the firearm is unloaded, and neither the firearm nor any ammunition being transported is readily accessible or is directly accessible from the passenger compartment of such transporting vehicle: Provided, That in the case of a vehicle without a compartment separate from the driver’s compartment the firearm or ammunition shall be contained in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console.
