\"\"This is a poem I had written several years ago for an Easter church service at a Cowboy Mounted Shooting event.\u00a0 I would like to share it with you.\u00a0 I hope that even those of you who are not Christian will appreciate the message and the symbolism.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em>Happy Easter!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

……..<\/p>\n

Last night I dreamt I had run my race
\nAnd reached the finish line
\nAnd walked the darkened desert path
\nThat waits for all in time<\/p>\n

And when I reached the trailhead there
\nI was rounded up and penned
\nInside the ranch that’s called The Grave
\nThe destiny of men<\/p>\n

Well, the ramrod was a wicked man
\nHis name was simply Death
\nHe ruled over all the herd
\nOf those who once drew breath<\/p>\n

Now in the center of the ranch
\nWas a spring of water sweet
\nThat sang to us of life anew
\nAs we suffered in the heat<\/p>\n

But struggle though we tried and tried
\nWe never could get near
\nFor the ramrod had a gun of fire
\nAnd a whip of solid fear<\/p>\n

But when our hopes had died away
\nAnd turned into despair
\nA mighty wondrous thing occurred
\nFor all the mortals there<\/p>\n

A\u00a0cowboy rode into the ranch
\nAnd the ramrod seemed to pale
\nFor this had never happened
\nBut he had heard the tale<\/p>\n

For ancient legend had it
\nThat one day a man would ride
\nDown the dark and twisted path
\nWith a wound upon his side<\/p>\n

And his hands would also bear twin scars
\nAnd his hat would hide a crown
\nAnd he would take this ranch
\nAnd he would cast it down<\/p>\n

Now this cowboy really looked the part
\nHis shirt was stained with blood
\nAnd his reins were also slick with it
\nWhere he held them in his gloves<\/p>\n

But battle weary though he was
\nHis eyes held naught of fear
\nAnd all of us who saw him
\nFelt salvation was near<\/p>\n

And though the ramrod has been called
\nPale Rider as you know
\nNever had he looked so pale
\nAs he faced his mighty foe<\/p>\n

When the cowboy swung down from his horse
\nAnd he faced the one called Death
\nThen all of Heaven and of Earth
\nThey all just held their breath<\/p>\n

And the cowboy spoke to Death
\nSo everyone could hear
\n“Do not mistake me for the lamb.
\nI am a lion here.”<\/em><\/p>\n

“The price I paid to walk this path
\nWas steep, but gladly paid.
\nAnd now I call you out
\nFor your destiny is laid.”<\/em><\/p>\n

And on his hip a sixgun shone
\nForged by divinity
\nAnd on his holster was a brand
\nThe mark of Trinity<\/p>\n

And Death went for his gun of fire
\nBut the cowboy was too fast
\nAnd in a flash of blessed light
