{"id":720,"date":"2008-01-09T16:00:34","date_gmt":"2008-01-09T20:00:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/monachuslex.com\/?p=720"},"modified":"2008-01-09T16:00:34","modified_gmt":"2008-01-09T20:00:34","slug":"small-white-angry-envelope","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/monachuslex.com\/?p=720","title":{"rendered":"Small, white, angry envelope"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-721\" title=\"Rejected\" src=\"https:\/\/monachuslex.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Rejected-300x238.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"238\" \/>Alas, I am undone!!<\/p>\n<p>I have received the first rejection of the cycle and it is from the institution I most wanted to attend &#8230; George Mason University.<\/p>\n<p>The rejection arrived in what another user on LawSchoolNumbers.com (LSN) called a &#8220;Small, White, Angry Envelope&#8221;. \u00a0As soon as I saw the envelope from Mason in the mailbox, I\u00a0knew\u00a0that it was a rejection. Those who had received the acceptance packet described it as a large packet and it was always prefaced by a phone call. I had not received the phone call and this was not a large packet. My heart sank &#8230; and stayed there.<\/p>\n<p>I am, I must say, flabbergasted by the rejection. The two data points that bother me the most are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>According to LSN, I have the highest index score of any rejected applicant including full time applicants.<\/li>\n<li>Also according to LSN, I had the second highest index score of ANY part time applicant and many with substantially lower scores have already been admitted and these were not Under Represented Minorities (URMs).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Oh well &#8230; such is the way of things and there is no profit in complaining. Now I have to revisit the acceptances I have already received, look at the applications I still have outstanding and perhaps rush to get a few more in that I had failed to send in my hubris.<\/p>\n<p>Mason &#8230; we would have been good together !!!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Alas, I am undone!!
